Yogeesh murder case: Mutagi complains about threats from co-accused

Dharwad: Basavaraj MutagiAccused No. 1 in ZP member Yogeeshgouda Goudar’s murder case filed a complaint with the Dharwad suburban police on Thursday that he was receiving threatening calls for offering to act as an approver in the murder case.
In his complaint, he said that on Wednesday evening, he received a call from one Ashwath, named as accused No. 9 in the murder case, and the caller told him that he (Mutagi) had made a mistake in offering to act as an approver.
He said he had offered to act as an approver in the Yogeeshgouda murder case and the special court that deals with cases of elected representatives accepted his offer. “After that, I keep receiving threatening calls,” Mutagi said in his complaint.
He had informed the court about these calls following which the court had directed the police to ensure his safety. According to the court order, Mutagi was protected by CRPF commandos. The trial in the murder case is now underway.
“These calls disturb me mentally. I have informed the police and CBI about the calls and am confident that they will take necessary action. I have also brought this to the notice of the court,” Mutagi said, adding that he had sought cancellation of Ashwath’s bail.
