Veteran SP Further evidence for Braves outside of the season have moved

The left -handed Max Fried was extremely impressive for the New York Yankees in this low season. However, the same does not apply to another former starter from Atlanta Braves – Charlie Morton.

Morton has allowed a run with the Baltimore Orioles in his last five innings. But unbelievable, that has only reduced his season from 2025 to 8.35. Morton also has a 6.48 FIP and career-1782 whip.

Obviously, the Braves made the right decision not to re-sign the 41-year-old.

No matter how Morton looks at the rest of 2025, it will always be a shame that the right -handed man has not ended his career in Atlanta. Morton was more than solid during his second stay with the team and set a record of 45-34 and 3.87 ERA from 2021 to 24.

Morton also took four starts for the Braves during her 2021 championship run. He registered his last appearance of this post -season in game 1 of the World Series, in which he suffered a broken right fibula. Somehow Morton threw an inn with the injury.

Last season, Morton was a steady presence for a brave rotation, which injured with injuries to almost any other starter that was not called Chris Sale. Fried and Reynaldo López in particular missed the expenses, while Spencer Strider exit almost throughout the season because of the elbow surgery. But Morton took 30 starts and set an 8-10 record and 4.19 ERA.

However, this does not prevent Braves from being moved into the past season last season. The organization actually found the additional space in rotation more valuable than the start jugs.

How else can you explain Atlanta so that Morton can leave a contract that paid him $ 5 million less than his salary of 2024?

In almost a third of the 2025 season, it seems that the good ones added a bullpen arm. You should have been much more concerned to sign outfield Jurickson Profar.

But General Manager Alex Anthopoulos nailed the decisions on starting trotation despite Fried’s Excellence in New York. With Morton in the rotation, the Braves would not begin the rookie AJ Smith-Shawver, which has an ERA of 1.50 in his last 30 MLB-Internings.

Atlanta has won each of Smith-Shawver’s last five starts.

In Baltimore, the Orioles still have to win a game in which Morton appears. He lost all six starts, and Morton put himself on duty as a long helper with four other one -sided losses.

As a starter, he is 0-6 with an ERA of 10.22 and 2.068 whip. Morton has registered a career High Walk Rate and Homerun rate Pro Nine Innings. In addition, his strike rate is reduced.

Hopefully Morton can turn things around soon. He didn’t deserve to end his career in this way.

But the braves decided whether they should bring their old war horse back in 2025 or not.
