TISD celebrates the Texas High School artist who received top honors at the 2025 state vase competition

Texarkana ISD is proud to be able to tell you that three students from the Texas High School have received top awards at the Scholastic event 2025 Visual Arts Scholastic (VASE) and present extraordinary talents, creativity and artistic excellence. Elizabeth Sharp, Hollyn Gerrald and David Morales-Simon each received the prestigious name IV superior medalist during the event from April 25th to 26th in San Marcos.

Vase organizes the Texas Art Education Association and is the greatest art competition of the High School in the state and recognizes outstanding achievements by the students in the visual arts. Works of art are rated on a strict section that evaluates conceptual understanding, technical skills, creativity and personal voice. A rating IV is the highest possible number of points and means exemplary work in all areas.

In addition to achieving this upper award, their pieces for the Elite Gold Seal Award were considered – an additional award granted to some selected recipients of the IV evaluation.

“We are incredibly proud of Elizabeth, Hollyn and David for their remarkable achievements,” said Ben Renner, director of Texas High School. “Your commitment, your creativity and her artistic growth are really inspiring.”

Participation in the state vase competition offers students the opportunity to share their work with professional jurors, combine with their peers all over Texas and to receive a meaningful feedback in order to promote their artistic journey. It also strengthens the skills in self -expression, self -confidence and appreciation for the visual arts.

Texarkana ISD congratulates this outstanding student artist on their success and is looking forward to celebrating their continuing growth and success in the arts.
