Tim Elko is unlikely to be a view for White Sox

Tim Elko Signed for $ 35,000 from the 10th round of the draft from 2022 after five years of Ole Miss. White Sox employees do not deny that they never expected the 26-year-old first Baseman to get that far.

“He has always been a guy that they just assumed that he would hit a wall” Paul Janish said.

Elko reduced a ridiculous .366/.448/.707 for Charlotte in April. By May 2, he reached double -digit homes while making progress to tackle his contact problems, which once seemed disqualified.

“Make sure I get good parking spaces to swing, swing the right ones and cause damage when I get them into my zone,” said Elko about his improvements.

“Use the (pitching) machine and the trajekt and all these different tools that capture and ensure that my timing is good in these skills. Mostly when someone has to fight, a lot of it is just timing.”

Elko will never have an average hit tool, but White Sox officials believe that the work of the swing finishes he focused on containing his persecution hunting rate. Elko still has a strike rate near 30%. He has a razor -thin border for errors and has to trigger parking spaces in the heart of the zone in order to be a productive large Leaguer.

But you cannot resist all summer for a running white SOX team.

“If he swings at the parking spaces over the heart of the plate and get in touch, his skills are harmful, which is so high” Ryan Fuller said. “He came to spring training, knew that he could improve the decision -making decisions (and made the high -quality contact with breaking balls.
