Happy holidays people. I’m your Eagle neighborhood reporter Alexander Huddleston, and when I was a kid, my little brother and I would go out and look at the Christmas lights. At the end of the season we chose our favorite house and presented it with a certificate for first place. Well, this season at Idaho News 6 we’re doing something different to show you where to go. So, first stop on our Valley Lights tour: Candy Cane Lane.

Last year’s Candy Cane Lane light show thrilled visitors to Eagle. Now the Box family is going to a new level.

“Last year, this deck with all the reindeer on it was the only thing we had…So we built all of that,” Ron Box pointed out.

The display now shows around 25,000 lights.

Son Ken Box laughed and added: “It’s a passion of ours. We just keep expanding. There are always new things to get online and the only way is up. Our therapist said it was a good idea. She said we should go bigger.”

The Box family is finding new ways to give back.

“This year we decided to partner with Make-A-Wish Idaho. We have a QR code on our fence that you can scan and donate directly to Make-A-Wish Idaho, and they take care of all the tax information so you can write it off as a tax donation,” Ken continued.

They’ve also hidden six Grinches of different sizes around their display for people to find in a fun pageant.

One visitor said: “We are new to the neighborhood. It’s great to see the community showing so much support.”
