The former 5-star decision by Texas Longhorns hits transfer portal

Austin-and the former five strikers of Texas Longhorns, Dillon Mitchell, will be his third program in three years.

According to reports by Jeff Borzello von Espn, Mitchell committed himself to join head coach Rick Pitino next season in St. Johns. He played in Cincinnati last year after spending his first two college college years in Texas.

Mitchell was a five-star recruitment course 2023 and committed himself to Texas and the then head coach Chris Beard from the prestigious Montverde Academy. Mitchell as a one-and-done perspective that flashed insanely potentially, but never fully appeared in the star that many had hoped. He will now appear in his senior season, hoping to win a national championship and possibly increase his design shares after the 2025-26 campaign.

Mitchell started 71 out of 72 games as Longhorn. He scored an average of 9.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in Texas last season.

With Cincinnati, he had a career high of 9.9 points together with 6.9 rebounds last season, while all 35 games for head coach Wes Miller Mitchell’s rebounding average with Cincinnati was the second highest in the Big 12, behind only Kansas Big Man Hungter Dickinson.

He had 22 two-digit hits with six double double, but Cincinnati could not earn no place in March Madness and instead decided with a place in the college basketball crown.

Mitchell performed in six NCAA tournament games in his career and was now able to try to join a competitor, hoping to get back on the big stage. In Texas’ elite eight against Miami in 2023 he had four points, two rebounds, one block and two steals in 13 minutes.
