The agent of Shohei Ohtanis says

The Treaty of Shoei Ohtan, which he signed in December 2023 as Free Agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers, could have been longer than the 10-year-old pact, which he had agreed.

According to NEZ Balelo, the Ahtani agent, the deal could have reached 15 years.

“We could have gone to 13, 14, 15,” said Balelo about the Associated Press (H/T ESPN). “But Shohei always wanted to keep the integrity of where he is as a player. He just didn’t want to have the end of his storybook career tail and then in 13, 14 and 15 it is exactly what this type is? You can’t even run first and he is no longer a guy.”

Ohtani joined the Dodgers with a 10-year-old deal worth $ 700 million, which was the largest contract for baseball history at that time.

The contract also contained an unprecedented amount of money that contained promotion measurements of 680 million US dollars, which pay the superstar of $ 68 million a year from 2034 to 2043.

The contract structure of Ohtani gave Los Angeles more financial flexibility to remain a threat in the free agency, and in 2023 and Blake Snell agreed with the starters Yoshinobu Yamoto in 2024.

While Balelo mentioned that his customer did not want 15 years in his contract and still played past his heyday, Ohtani has not shown any signs of slowing down because he was preparing for the 31 -year profit on July 5.

He was on his plate with the Dodgers during his first season and was the first player in the history of the MLB, who recorded at least 50 Homeruns and 50 steals in the same year.

Ohtani ended with 54 Homern, 130 RBIs, 59 stolen bases and 38 doubles while he was one.

“We wouldn’t do anything else,” said Balelo about ESPN. “He won a championship. He went to the right team. No regret.”

The three-time MVP has remained sharp to open its 2025 campaign and enlarge 41 goals and 10 Homeruns, while publishing 1.031 ops in 35 appearances.
