Tennis legend Andre Agassi, 55, Wins per debut at the US Open pickleball championships

Andre Agassi’s days as a tennis professional are long behind him, but the eight-time Grand Slam champion found another way to possibly become a US open winner.

One day after his 55th birthday, Agassi sat down with Anna Leigh Waters to assert in the second round of the mixed Pro -Dobpel tournament at the US Open pickleball championships. They resigned Stevie Petropoueas and Tristan Dussault in three sets with 11: 8, 9-11, 11-7.

Agassi is one of the most decorated American players in men’s tennis history. He won Wimbledon in 1992 at the age of 22 and added 25 other Grand Slam titles.

After Agassi professionally reached a Nadir in 1997, he experienced an unlikely comeback that brought him back to the top of the sport. When he won 32 Australian Open in 2003, he was the oldest Grand Slam champion since Ken Rosewall in 1972.

Agassi retired from tennis in 2006.

With the rapid growth of pickleball, the native Las Vegas received the golden opportunity to reduce its competitiveness on the square.

“I have this conflict, as I can’t say. Is that fun? Is this fear?” He said before his Pro debut, by Dan Deluca from the Naples Daily News. “There are probably many tennis players, of the same age from me who are looking forward to seeing a loftray on my side of the square.”

In view of his lack of experience, Agassi set a modest goal for herself before the US Open was in operation.

“A victory for me will be when this is over that Anna Leigh looks at me and says: ‘Do you want to play again’,” he said. “That would be cool.”

Agassi and Waters will compete in the third round with Trang Huynh-Mcclain and Len Fang.
