Suspicious bombings for electrical transformers in San Jose guilty – NBC Bay Area

A man who bombarded two PG & E transformers in San Jose, owed himself guilty on Tuesday, and federal members in connection with the attacks.

The 38 -year -old Peter Karasev admitted to bombing the electrical transformers on December 8, 2022 near Westfield Oakridge Mall and on January 5, 2023 near the Plaza del Rey shopping center, according to the US prosecutor for the northern district of California.

The first bomb attack left more than 1,450 people for almost 16 hours without power and the second had an impact on the federal prosecutors.

“The search for his house after his arrest discovered an astonishing abundance of explosive bodies and dangerous chemicals,” said Patrick Robbins, incumbent US lawyer for the northern district of California.

“There can be no mistakes in relation to the extent of the destruction that could have arisen,” said Robbins in a press release on Tuesday.

Karasev, engineer, carried out extensive Internet search for explosives, infrastructure attacks and geopolitical conflicts before the attacks.

When he was arrested on March 1, 2023, the investigators found homemade explosive devices, more than £ 300 materials that could be used to build bombs, dangerous chemicals, weapons and distant detonation devices in his house, vehicle and office.

Karasev is now presented in the federal prison of around eight to ten years in the federal prison when he was convicted in front of a federal court in San Jose on August 19.

According to the prosecutors, he also agreed to pay a refund of $ 104,076.26.
