Storm, flood floods threaten Texas, Louisiana and more

play

When the danger of severe thunderstorms and potential tornados on May 7 lingered parts of the Great Plains and Louisiana, the forecasts warned that excessive precipitation could lead to additional floods that have already become fatal in Texas.

More than 8 million people were exhibited in large parts of Louisiana and parts of Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi under the flood guardian of the national weather service. Another pocket with floods covered with floods of New York, where rain in already saturated areas could lead to floods due to drainage and full rivers and streams.

On May 6th, a 10-year-old girl was found dead in Texas after being swept away in “rapid floods” two days earlier in Brenham, the fire brigade said. Brenham is about 90 miles east of Austin.

In the meantime, another round of strong to heavy thunderstorms in South Texas was a risk, with the main threat to come from the big hail. Further storms are expected in the regions of Tennessee and Mid mississippi valleys and Central Plains.

Weather forecast from Houston; Storms to expand south

On May 7th, strong to heavy storms are expected in the Houston and Galveston area in Texas, according to the forecast. Widden showers and thunderstorms will take in the early afternoon, with the greatest risk of storms south of the Interstate 10. Great hail, strong wind and localized minor floods are risks.

Other storms are expected on May 8 from West and south-wing along the Gulf Coast, which leads to strong rainfall and some floods. Louisiana is particularly exposed to a risk of additional floods and excessive rain.

The precipitation will also expand in the southeast with 4 to 8 inches in North Florida, Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas in the next few days.

“The rain worth weeks will fall in the parts of the south in a few days in the next few days when a storm crawl to the east,” said Accuweather in a hint.

In the meantime, more storms will go to the northeast and middle of the Atlantic on May 8, the weather service says. The region has been hit by consecutive thunderstorms in the past few days and has had strong precipitation that you can look forward to. The rain will concentrate particularly on higher increases in the northeast of Pennsylvania, the northwest of New Jersey and the south of New York, the weather service says.

Floods are fatal in Texas

Brenham, Texas, in the Eastern Central part of the state, flooded by flood in the midst of heavy rainfall on the soil that had already been soaked at the beginning of the week of May 4th. The fire brigade of Brenham said that 10-year-old Devah Woods, a third grader in Brenham Elementary, said on May 4th at 4:25 p.m.

Spectators tried to save the girl after she was caught in the rapidly rising floods. The crews searched for two days for their continued storm with dogs, drones and thermal imaging technology. It was found dead on May 6th at 10 a.m.

“This tragedy has deeply influenced our community. We ask everyone to think further in this unimaginable time and pray for Devah’s family. In view of Herz pain, Brenham has shown what it means to get together – with strength, compassion and unity,” said the fire brigade of Brenham.

At the end of April, two consecutive days of severe storms brought Tornados, harmful winds and flood rain into a large part of the country, with at least five deaths in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania being left.

Where does this weather come from?

The National Weather Service said that an “Omega block” has dominated the weather patterns in the past few days, but “will finally develop until the middle of the week”. However, uncertain weather is not over yet.

An Omega block is named due to its similarity to the Greek letter Omega (Ω). According to WEATHER.com, meteorologist Jonathan Erdman: “If you follow the path of the jet stream from west to east via the USA, you will track the Greek letters Omega.”

“This configuration blocks the typical West to the eastern flow of the jet stream, similar to a large rock in a small stream, the water flow around it,” he said. “That is why meteorologists call it a blocking pattern.”

It is a kind of weather pattern that is typical for April and May and prevents the typical western-east movement of most storm systems. The result is the locking in cool and restless conditions in some parts of the country, while in between there are mild and dry conditions. Read more.
