Shillington organizes the 97th annual parade and ceremony of the memorial day

The American Legion Reber-Moore Post 635 will continue a long-term tradition with the 97th annual parade and ceremony Shillington Memorial Day this month. The event for Monday, May 26, 2025, will honor men and women who have given their lives while serving the United States military.

The Memorial Day, observed nationwide in May last Monday in May, is reminiscent of the victims of fallen service members. The holiday, which dates in the years after the civil war, was officially recognized in 1971 as a federal holiday. Since 1927, the Shillington American Legion Post has organized the annual parade as an opportunity for the community to pay tribute to those who have served.

This year’s parade begins immediately at 10:30 a.m. in Shillington Park and will drive through the city and end in the Rathaus Shillington. The residents are invited to line the streets and take part in the day of memory.
