Scottsdale golf course closes this summer to the restoration

Phoenix – Scottsdale Private Golf Course Desert Highland was closed on Monday due to a large restoration project, according to a press release from Buffalo Groupe.

The Jack Nicklaus design, which was first opened in 1983, will be closed until November.

The parts of the 10 million dollar project include the following: improvement of the perforated design, revision of the desert landscape design, the reconstruction of T -shirt boxes, repeating lawns, bunkers and green and updating the club’s putty course.

The Par-41 put course designed by Gary Preps will be run again with grass in July.

Holes

The highlighted hole redesign functions include adding a forward -shirts in the fifth hole (for easier access to the putting surface) and several boxes to the 10th (to move golfers further from the back of the practice area).

Every sand trap in Desert Highland is “refined and properly reset”, in its shapes and height. In order to keep the bunkers properly, everyone is excavated and has new drainage systems under the surface and contamination linings.

The current sand is also replaced by a Caltega Pro Tour -Sand, which is produced by Gillibrand Co. Inc.

Greens

All greens on the Par-72 golf course are reproduced with 007XL creeping bent grass and the drainage system is also updated.

Some green contours are also adapted so that more PIN locations can be made available for the leisure and tournament game. One of these affected green will be on the eighth Par-4, whereby according to the release of “vertical more vertical”, it is rotated in accordance with the direction of the hole and near grass hills.

Popular Pro event set for return

Scottsdale’s Desert Highlands was the host of an unofficial PGA Tour event entitled “The Skins Game” for 26 years before he was canceled in 2009 because he had lost his title sponsor. Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Gary Player and Arnold Palmer showed it early. Even Tiger Woods appeared a few appearances.
