Sam Kennedy from Red Sox communicates new details from Rafael Devers Meeting

In 2025, the Boston Red Sox had one of the most dramatic weeks of all teams in the Major League baseball.

Boston lost Triston Casas for the season due to a knee injury. The Red Sox have brought things up and running on the first basis since then, but an option that the team hoped for did not work. Boston turned to Rafael Devers to move to the first basis after he had already brought him to the designated bat.

The decision led to an outcry for the organization and a lot of noise in the entire league. It became so big that the main owner John Henry, President and Chief Executive Officer Sam Kennedy, and Chief Baseball Officer Craig Wroclow even traveled to Kansas City to meet Devers personally on May 9th.

Kennedy started on Thursday “The Greg Hill Show” on Weei and opened up for the meeting.

“It was a really good trip,” said Kennedy. “The aim was to go out and ensure that we had the chance to attend various members of the team and the employees and to only strengthen the expectations from the top of the organization.

“It was John Henry’s idea to go out there and have a few different conversations that we will keep internally. It was a very clear, open message about our expectations, our commitment to the win, and it was a really good visit. And I am glad that we did it. It was a very important point in the season, but we got on the way for a few decades early.
