Red Sox 1b Triston Casas for the year after knee operation

Boston – Red Sox First Baseman Triston Casas suffered a broken tendon in the left knee and is on the road for the rest of the season, said the team.

The 25-year-old Casas broke up his patellar tendon, who ran first on a slow scooter on the line, and fell awkward on Friday evening at Boston’s victory over the Minnesota Twins. After lying on his back in pain – the knee did not move – he was deported on a stretcher before he was taken to a hospital in Boston.

The team announced on Sunday that he carried out an operation because of a left Patellar tuning repair in the Massachusetts General Hospital. The operation was made by Dr. Eric Berkson carried out.

“I spoke to him last night,” said Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow on Saturday in a press conference about the injury to Bostons Clubhaus. “We exchanged text messages (Saturday). We all all take care of his general well -being.”

Manager Alex Cora said Casas worked hard in the low season to play every day after having missed torn cartilage in his chest last year.

“He did an excellent job in the low season to sit down in this situation. It didn’t start as he wanted,” said Cora about Casas’ fights. “He would play and play a lot. Now we have to concentrate on rehab after the operation and hopefully bring it back more than ever and will be ready next year.”

Casas only beat 0.182 with three homers and 11 RBis, but Wroclaw said that his loss would be felt, especially with the lack of depth of the team in the position.

“He certainly fought in the first month of the season, but that didn’t change what we believed for his production,” said Breslow. “It is a big loss. In addition to what we believe that we would come on the offensive side, he was like a stabilizing presence on the defensive side of the field – also a large personality and a large part of the clubhouse.”

During the spring training, Casas spoke about how his focus was more relaxed on the plate this season.

“You really want it until you don’t do it,” he said, explaining his thoughts when he was standing on his locker. “Then you can’t want it that much.”

Now he has to concentrate on his recovery plan for the next season.

Casas, a left-hander, was set on Saturday on the 10-day injured list with Infieldder/Outfield Abraham Toro, which was selected from Triple-A Worcester.

Cora said Toro-a Switch-Hitter-Werd initially share with Romy Gonzalez. Who beats right hand.

Breslow said the team could research a long -term replacement.

“Unfortunately, this is an opportunity to examine what is available,” he said. “We will look both internally and outside.”

Cora said that there are no plans to move Rafael Devers, who was replaced by Alex Bregman’s leisure acquisition by Alex Bregman’s leisure work and drew after ie.

“We asked him to do something in spring training that he did not agree with it at the beginning, and now he is very comfortable what he is doing,” said Cora. “As I told you in spring training, he is my DH.”
