It’s time to continue our college basketball odds series with an Oregon-Alabama prediction and tip. Find out how to watch Oregon Alabama.

Alabama picked up an important win over the Houston Cougars in Las Vegas earlier this week. The Crimson Tide lost to Purdue and beat Illinois in the weeks leading up to the Houston game. The Tide needed a decisive win — Illinois was good but not elite — and Houston provided the opponent that Alabama and coach Nate Oats desperately wanted to beat.

The bar has been raised for Alabama basketball. Last season, the program finally reached its first Final Four. Now Oats is trying to establish the Tide as an established power in the college game. A return to the Final Four this season and a No. 1 ranking would solidify Bama as a destination program in the sport. Notably, UConn was the team that beat Alabama in a premier national semifinal Final Four last spring. Looking back 35 years, to the late 1980s, UConn was a nobody program at the time. Nobody really knew or cared about the Huskies. Jim Calhoun was about to become the architect of a modern college basketball dynasty that Dan Hurley continued into the 2020s. That’s the thing about building: if you do it well enough, everything can change on a scale that no one can imagine in the present moment.

Jim Calhoun hoped that UConn would become a giant over time, but neither he nor any of his successors could have imagined how high UConn could climb.

Nate Oats is trying to take the same approach with Bama basketball. He is on the way up, but there are so many greater heights to reach and there is no time for stagnation.

Having just beaten Houston and Rutgers, Alabama is looking to close out its week with a win over an improving Oregon team that has shown it’s going to be a very tough game this season under coach Dana Altman.

This is a neutral-site game in Las Vegas at the end of Feast Week.

Why Oregon will cover the spread/win

The betting situation for this game is not easy to calibrate. Alabama is the more prominent program and – in a best-of-seven game series – would undoubtedly be the favorite to win. However, in a one-game situation, Dana Altman is not a coach that most teams would oppose. Altman led Oregon to the 2017 Final Four and a No. 1 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. This 2024-2025 Oregon team is undefeated. The best thing about these Ducks is that they dominate the last five minutes of games – not complete games, but definitely in crunch time. They did it against Portland. They did it against Oregon State. They did it against Texas A&M. Oregon was in real trouble in all three games, but pulled away in the final minutes. Continually finding solutions in tense and difficult moments instills so much confidence in a basketball team. Alabama caught Oregon at the wrong time. The Ducks are on the rise right now and will carry their momentum into this game. They get 5.5 points and will probably win this game until the end.

Why Alabama will cover the spread/win

The Crimson Tide had their own stressful situation against Rutgers, as they blew a comfortable lead late in regulation but battled back to survive. This should loosen up the team and allow them to give their best. The win over Houston, as well as the win over Rutgers, should give Alabama full confidence that it can make mistakes and still win. If this team plays its best, Oregon won’t be able to compete.

Final Oregon-Alabama prediction and picks

The lead is Oregon, but Alabama could very easily win by six points. Just enjoy this game. You don’t have to bet on it.

Final Oregon-Alabama prediction and pick: Oregon +5.5
