November 29, 2024 Why are Europe’s Christmas commercials so much better than ours?

Happy Friday! I have some fun and interesting links and some new pictures for you today! If I can help it, I’m not going anywhere today. I’ve worked in retail for too many years to enjoy Black Friday. Bit works today, at least until 11am. Grocery shopping is tomorrow.

Monday Youffraita

Tuesday: bigjacbigjacbigjac

Wednesday Pam from California

Thursday Kind of Zen

Friday FloridaSNMOM

Saturday FloridaSND

I looked at this year’s Christmas commercials and found that the European and UK commercials are SO much better than anything the US has done before. The only thing that comes close is the extended Chevrolet commercial, and it’s very melancholic.

Everyone else is very focused on “buy, buy, buy” and some are completely selfish.

This year it’s all about AI.

I didn’t succeed.

Here are the ones I found from the UK and Europe. Why can’t we have more ads like this?

Which is your favorite?

Here is an interesting video about the origins of Thanksgiving and Black Friday. It’s a bit long, but worth watching (including NSFW language).

This is fun and amusing 🙂

Buddy and Sophie sleep together

Here Buddy and Sophie are sleeping together on my computer chair. I know we’ve mostly focused on the puppies because they’re small, cute and active, but these boys deserve some time too.
Sophie is getting old and I think she probably has cancer. I’m afraid to take her to the vet and find out for sure. At this point she doesn’t seem to be in any pain and I think I’ll wait until after the holidays to do that. I really don’t want to lose it right before Christmas, and I don’t have the money to do that at the moment anyway.
So far, she still wants to go out and work, even though she sleeps more while working than she used to. I know her time is approaching and I’m scared of it, but I’m enjoying the time I get to spend with her now.
Buddy is my puppy and velcro cuddle bug. He spends most of his day next to me when he’s not playing with puppies. He has come a long way since the scared puppy we picked up from the shelter, he is showing more of his personality and gaining more confidence every day. He still hides from new people who come to the house but is not aggressive. He just stays behind me or between my computer chair and the wall when I’m talking to someone outside. When we’re outside and someone new approaches, he hides under my wheelchair. I am his safe person. He doesn’t eat when I’m not home. I’m worried about my next hospital stay, whenever that is, because when I’m there in a few days, I’m really worried that he won’t be eating the whole time.

Sunny is headstrong and stubborn, which is pretty typical of Heelers. We have worked on a number of issues, some with success, some without success. Her sitting and memory skills are much better, I worked with her and the puppies at the same time. She learns to stay away from my room because she insists on herding the cats, she and Lyta don’t get along at all. Lyta gets along well with Buddy, Sophie, Rhenn and Fenna, everything is Sunny. (Stewie wants to play a little TOO much for Lyta; he’s just too excited and boisterous.) Lyta objects to being poked with Sunny’s nose. Once the puppies settle in, I will think about working with her more with the cats. I have enough on my plate at the moment.

At night, before I go to bed, Sunny and I talk about taking care of the puppies (who are still in their crate overnight) and taking care of the house. And then she falls asleep in my computer chair and doesn’t worry about not going to the bedroom. If I forget to give her the one-on-one meeting in the evening, she sneaks under my wheelchair.

Also, she likes some people and really doesn’t like others. And the ones she doesn’t want to bark and growl at (which is why she’s not suited to working with service dogs). Nizz is a wound nurse. She barks when she first comes in, then lies down and sleeps under my wheelchair. Nice PCA, she acts like she wants to eat. I don’t know why, but she *really* doesn’t like them. Bit’s girlfriend Harley loves her, not so much Harley’s current boyfriend. And when Harley wears his sweatshirt, Sunny isn’t happy with Harley either. We have been working on sitting even when someone she doesn’t like is there. Sometimes she can do it, others not so much. She is on a leash when people come over.
As I said, headstrong and stubborn.
