No. 6 South Carolina deserves a share of the SEC title

Tessa Johnson scored 16 points, and the women’s basketball team of women in South Carolina used a share of the regular season championship of the Southeasters Conference on Sunday with a 78-66 victory against Kentucky No. 15 in Kentucky.

No. 1 Texas defeated Florida 72-46 on Sunday, so the Longhorns and Gamecocks both ended with 15: 1 in conference. Since the teams divided the season series, a Sunday found in a coin that South Carolina would have the SEC tournament this week in Greenville, South Carolina.

The SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey turned the coin from Birmingham, Alabama, around Lsus Game against Mississippi to determine the top seeds. The flip was broadcast live in the Secl network, and immediately afterwards a loud cheers from South Carolina’s changing room could be heard.

“We watched in the changing room and it was somehow exciting,” said South Carolina coach Dawn Staley. “I know that if you are part of the equation, it doesn’t feel good to have your fate in a coin flip. I didn’t know that eight other sports use a coin flip. That was new for me. I feel better now.”

The Texas players looked from their home floor after their blowout victory.

“We cannot control how the coin ended up. It is what it is,” said Center Taylor Jones. “Whatever we play, we have played before.”

Te-Hola Paopao added 13 points and Chloe Kitts had 12 points and 10 rebounds for South Carolina (27: 3), which has won at least one share in the title of the regular season in the last four seasons.

The No. 1 seed offers South Carolina the advantage of playing the early game on Friday at 12 p.m., which comes more from the semi -finals from rest than Texas, which gives up six hours later.

However, the Longhorns may have the easier way to the final. The LSU with the third seed, which could compete in the semi -finals in Texas, will be a shin injury for the tournament without Star Flau’jae Johnson. Johnson has an average team high of 18.9 points per game.
