As a freshman guard on a deep team at Alabama, Philon was a key contributor and a difference-maker from day one. He’s a solid athlete with a physique that should allow him to be effective early in his NBA career. He is 1.90 meters tall, has a natural feel and posture and is fundamentally healthy. But even then, Philon can sometimes be flashy and has a varied game.

Philon is a pure point guard, but can also score at a very high level. He has shown that he can handle the ball very well for a rookie and is a good decision maker who plays with great pace. Philon has a promising 3-point shot, but we’ll need to see more positive samples throughout the year to be fully convinced at the college level. While he has good mechanics on his jumper, shooting efficiency will be the key swing factor. Philon also has good touch near the rim and can finish with either hand. His body control is advanced for his age, which has really increased in his first season. Philon has also proven to be a productive positional rebounder at times.

Philon gives everything he can in defense, plays with a great motor and is not afraid to be physical. He does some very special defensive work on the outside edge and knows how to use his length well. Philon is extremely competitive in this regard and plays with high IQ and feeling. NBA teams will value his ability to defend from the point of attack when evaluating him.

A former four-star recruit, Philon attended Link Academy to complete his high school career. He is originally from Alabama and plays his college ball close to home. When it comes to dynamic two-way combo guards, Philon is one of the most promising in his class.

Possible first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
