Murder charges were filed in 2021. Houston man burned and stabbed

A Houston man accused of stabbing, burning and killing Jesus Salgado in 2021 has been charged with murder, court records show.

Jose Ivan Mendoza, 37, now faces a murder charge as investigators allege he burned Salgado, stabbed him with a sharp object and beat him while trying to kidnap him.

Mendoza is scheduled to appear in court on December 3rd.

What happened?

On June 7, 2021, Houston Police responded to a call at 1900 Dorsett Street where witnesses found Salgado, 49, suffering from severe burns and stab wounds.

According to investigators, a witness saw Salgado with another man in a meadow when a fire broke out. The witness extinguished the flames and called 911 as the suspect fled on foot.

Salgado was taken to the hospital with burns over most of his body and stab wounds to his abdomen. He died from his injuries on June 15, 2021.

In August 2021, Mendoza and another suspect, Manuel Mendoza Perales, were arrested and initially charged with murder.

Mendoza Perales, 34, was arrested in Brighton, Colorado through a joint operation with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
