Meet the New Jason Voorhees when the 13th franchise is killed 45 years on Friday (first look)

The first Friday

Crystal Lake became Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother and the Stealth killer of the original film, who brought himself into cinemas in May 1980.

Since then, the theater franchise has collected almost $ 400 million at the domestic box office alone, and Jason, who in the continuation of 1981 as a judge, jury and henker, exhibited his hockey mask face on video games, comics and all types of Merch.

Friday, the 13th, is clearly a profitable business. It is also partially a family business. Rob Barsamian’s father Bob was one of the investors in the 1980 film and his own son Robbie is horror, Inc.’s EPP.

“I remember how my father was excited,” recalls Barsamian. “He loved the fact that the audience was blew up when Jason rose from the lake as a surprising end. It was an honor to continue my father’s passion for entertainment.”

Of course, families argue inevitably over the course of four decades, and the extended Friday, the 13th clan, was involved in legal disputes that the series organized in Stasis. In 2021, the screenwriter of the original film, Victor Miller, won the domestic rights to the franchise in a case in which director Sean S. Cunningham and Horror also participated (a final decision was issued in 2024 in favor of Miller.)

Conn says that Horror, Inc. is now working with Miller and his copyright lawyer and partner on Friday, 13th LLC, Marc Toberoff, to Jason Universe projects. Toberoff confirms the collaboration in an explanation to Adweek and wrote: “It is incredibly exciting to bring Jason Voorhees back into the life of fans in such a courageous and fresh way.”

“We are enthusiastic about working with horror, Inc. on this next chapter of the franchise and Jason’s legacy, and we share their passion,” continues toberoff. “Together we ensure that this return provides everything that has asked for long -term fans – while we open the door for a completely new generation.”
