Mavericks GM Nico Harrison admits that he did not notice how important Luka Dončić was for the fan base

“The way we looked at it is when you put a team on the floor, the Kyrie (Irving), Klay (Thompson), PJ (Washington), Anthony Davis and (Dereck) Lively, are of the opinion that this is a team of the championship caliber,” he added. “We would have won at a high level and that would have calmed down something of the outrage.”

Harrison admitted that he and the Mavericks did not meet sufficiently with media and fans after trading with Dončić, but insisted that despite the opposite, he did not try to speak to reporters.

“Our goal is to never run away from the media,” he said.

But Harrison admitted that the round table fell “flat” with reporters and did not achieve what he had hoped for because it did not answer any reasonable answer to questions.
