Mariska Hargitay opens over a family bomb.

The 61 -year -old star “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” reveals in her new documentary “My Mother Jayne” that her biological father is actually the Italian singer Nelson Sardelli, not Mickey Hargitay, the man who raised her.

According to Vanity Fair, Hargitay said in the film, who had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17 that it was “when the floor fell out” when she saw a photo of Sardelli in the 20s and immediately knew that he was her biological father.

Mariska Hargita’s mother, the late actress Jayne Mansfield, was romantically involved in 1963 with Sardelli while she left Mickey Hargitay. Mansfield and Hargitay reconciled towards the end of 1963, and Mariska Hargitay was born in January 1964.

In conversation with Vanity Fair, Hargitay said that she was “full of Olivia Benson”, and referred to her “Law & Order” character when she was 30 years old, and introduced herself to Sardelli after appearing in Atlantic City. She remembered having told him: “I don’t want anything, I don’t need anything from you … I have a father. ‘” However, she said that she would develop a connection to Sardelli that appears in the film in front of the camera.

In “My Mother Jayne” Hargitay explores her mother’s history, who died in a car accident in 1967 when the future “Law & Order” actress was 3 years old.

In an earlier announcement, Hargitay described the documentary as “a search for the mother that I never knew, an integration of a part of me that I had never observed, and a recovery of my mother’s history and my own truth.” She added: “I always believed that susceptibility gives strength and the process of making this film has confirmed this belief like never before.”

Hargitay spoke to Vanity Fair and said she tried to “know that I live a lie all my life” after learning the truth about her descent. She said the film was also a love letter to Mickey Hargitay, who died in 2006. She announced that “nobody I was closer to this planet” and considered: “I am Mickey Hargita’s daughter – that’s not a lie.”

After the Cannes premiere of the film, “My Mom Jayne” will debut on HBO on June 27th and be on HBO Max Stream.
