Long Grove planning chair replaces after Quikrip

Helen Wilson

Bill Jacob, President of Long Grove Village, replaced Helen Wilson, chairman of the Plans Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Jacob made the announcement at the village board meeting on Tuesday. He then nominated the former village faithfulman Anne Kritzmire as her successor. The board approved the nomination.

The vote takes place after the planning authority recently unanimously recommended that the board rejected a controversial proposal for a Quikrip filling station and a convenience store on Route 53 and Route 83.

The Village Board delayed the vote on Quikrip in the past month after it became clear that the board did not have the four votes that were necessary for the handover. During the meeting, Kritzmire, who was sitting as a trustee at her last meeting, explained her support for Quikrip.

After the appointment, Arhana Mohanchandra, one of Wilson’s colleagues, interviewed, Jacob, whether Wilson had resigned and why she was replaced.

“She didn’t resign at the time,” he said. “We go in a different direction.”

Jacob noticed that Wilson’s term in office had actually expired in 2021, but she continued to serve.

When Mohanchandra asked why Wilson was awarded that other commissioners had served for several years, village lawyer Victor Filippini replied: “Her term of office has expired, and the village president decided to appoint a successor who is his privilege, and the Village Board approved it. And that is the reason.”

Wilson felt out.

“There was never anyone removed because the conditions have expired,” she said. “There are people who were much, much longer in the commission than me.”

In her opinion, if she was not replaced at the end of her term, then “then used a new term”, she would be able to mean that it can serve until next year.

Wilson said Jacob sent her an e -mail after the Commission’s meeting on May 6, in which she was informed about his decision. He added that he “officially recognize her for her long -term service in the village of Long Grove.

“I think, and others in the Commission told me that I was a good chairman,” said Wilson, who has been working on the Commission since 2016.

The Village Board is expected to discuss the Quikrip proposal on May 27th.
