Knospe Black as Rockies Manager when the losses are piling up

The Rockies fired managers Bud Black on Sunday in the middle of the historically bad start of the ball club into the season, despite a 9: 3 victory against the Padres, who scored a defeat with eight games. They also fired bank coach Mike Redmond.

The Rockies are 7-33, most recently in the National League West and have the worst record in the Major League baseball.

The 67-year-old Black was in his ninth year as Rockies’ manager and the longest manager in the team history. This was the last year of his contract.

Black was replaced by the third base coach Warren Schaeffer, who will act as an interim manager for the rest of the season. The trainer Clint Hurdle was appointed interim bank coach

Black found success with Colorado at the beginning of his term and led the team to his only appearances after the season in 2017/18. But since then everything has been downhill. In the middle of a youth movement, the franchise is in the seventh defeat in a row, the longest stripes in the Franchise story. And a third season in a row in a row seems likely.

“Our previous game this season, especially in the last two seasons, was unacceptable,” said Rockie’s owner Dick Monfort in an explanation. “Our fans earn better and we are able to get better.

“Although we all share the responsibility for how this season was played, these changes are required. We will use the rest of 2025 to improve where we can on the field and to evaluate all areas of our company so that we can properly transform the page of Rockies baseball.”

Monfort also showed Black and Redmond gratitude.

“I would like to thank Bud Black and Mike Redmond for their contributions to organization in their eight years,” he said. “I appreciate your hard work and your commitment and wish you only the best that is in the future.”

The Rocky Mountains lost 103 games in 2023 and 101 games in 2001, what the only times in which the association had suffered three -digit defeats in one season. The average .242 average of the 2024 club, .304 percentage and .704 ops were lowest in franchise history, while its 1,617 strikes were the most in club history.

Black achieved more games than any other in club history, won more games, but also lost more games). Black was sympathetic and charismatic and had a strong, friendly relationship with his players, the front office and the staff as well as the media.

Black, a pitcher in the major League for 15 seasons, brought a pitching background to Colorado when it was hired before the 2017 season. He replaced Walt Weiss and inherited a team that went 75-87 in 2016.

The ’17 Rockies ended 87-75 and grew into the post-season, but lost 11: 8 against Arizona in the Wildcard game of the National League.
