King’s Cross: Teenage girl appears in court over murder of homeless man | Great Britain | News

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with the murder of a homeless man who was attacked near London’s King’s Cross station.

The teenager, from Brixton, south London, will appear at Croydon Magistrates Court on Friday to be charged with the murder of Anthony Marks, 51, in August this year.

Mr Marks died after being violently attacked in Cromer Street on Saturday, August 10.

A 17-year-old boy was previously charged and remanded in custody following his court appearance to appear in court next year.

Met Police investigators say they remain interested in hearing from witnesses who may not have yet come forward to reveal what they saw.

And they are also appealing to Mr Marks’ next of kin, with whom they have still not had contact.

The victim had been living homeless on the streets of the capital and had sought refuge in a garbage shed near where he was fatally attacked.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, previously said: “Although someone has been charged, our inquiries remain ongoing with a number of active inquiries.

“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have not been able to identify Anthony’s next of kin and I urge anyone who can help to contact the investigation team.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident but has not yet spoken to police. There were several people in the area at the time of the murder, and we know that some of those people tried to help Anthony. If you are one of these people, please contact us.”

Latest figures show that 11,993 rough sleepers were spotted on London’s streets between April 2023 and March 2024, up 19% on the previous year’s total and 58% more than a decade ago.
