Ketel Marte Blast sets an early tone

Ketel Marte put the diamondbacks early on Wednesday afternoon, May 14th, early in the lead and blew up a solo homer to judge the Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks in the first inning in Oracle Park.

The diamondbacks met in the second and co-successive basic hits by Eugenio Suarez, Pavin Smith, Geraldo Perdomo and Alek Thomas, who gave Arizona a 3-0 when the game moved to the bottom of the inn.

The left starter Eduardo Rodriguez threw a goalless bottom of the first and worked for a one-out single.

Lourdes Gurriel moves in the line -up, Pavin Smith Drops

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. turned to third place in Diamondbacks Manager Torey Lovulless list, with Pavin Smith fell into No. 6 -Loch.

Lovullo said this follows what he would say this year since spring training – if he is more adjustable with his lists.

“It does not mean that they cannot or will not return to their original location,” said Lovullo. “I just think that Pavin crunches a bit.

Since April 23, Smith has only been 8 for 46 (.174) with an additional hit.

Gurriel has now started to warm up. In his last 13 games he strikes with three homers and 10 RBIs .333/.370/.627.

“Much better (bats),” said Lovullo about Gurriel. “(He) checks the parking spaces in counts; one or two strikes on him, he comes back into counts and he does not miss the ball he is looking for. He is a good bat. He is a really good bat. And I think he has made some really good adjustments.”
