Juan Soto lets Tony Gonsolin and Dodgers pay in the METS victory

It was more than two weeks since Juan Soto, the only man in baseball with a more rich contract as Shoei Ohtani, had recorded an additional hit for the New York Mets.

At the end of the fourth Inning Saturday evening in the Citi Field Field, Dodgers Pitcher Tony Gonsolin offered him the perfect opportunity to get back on the track.

After a solid opening of three innings for gonsolin, who made an important start for the Dodgers one night after her 13-in-marathon victory at the start of the series, the right-handed man had made a chaos for himself in fourth.

With two outs, he spent four-pitch walks in a row to load the bases. The early one-run lead of the Dodgers then disappeared when Starling reached Marte with a half-swinging infield single.

This brought Soto up, which had undergone the METS in the first two months in Queens by signing a mega representative of $ 765 million. Gonsolin appeared in counting 1 and 2 before just missing with a slider. He tried to come back with his trademark. But Soto was everywhere and crushed a double with two runs, which proved to be a decisive blow in the 5-2 victory in New York against the Dodgers.

“At the beginning I was pretty optimistic and got a 2-0 lead,” said manager Dave Roberts. “And then there was the (fourth inning), in which he had command, had two outs and the successive walks.

In a preview of what will come for the Dodgers (32-20) due to a strenuous part of their schedule next month, the fate on Saturday of the team was almost exclusively dependent on the performance of their starter.

On Friday evening, her already revised Bullpen had been gassed by her extra Interning gantlet. And although they won this game and refreshed their pitching staff by calling Bobby Miller for a few additional length on Saturday, Roberts had tied up his hands when Gonsolin started losing command.

In his first three innings against the Mets (31-21), Gonsolin was okay and gave a run in a two-out rally in the second by giving up a double game with runners in the inning-end-end games in the corner.

The fourth was a different story.

Luis Torrens led with a single. Tyrone Taylor packed a fly ball that seemed like a no-double from the bat before dying in a stiff breeze on the warning route of the left field. Then Gonsolin became unpredictable and threw Brett Baty and Francisco Lindor eight consecutive balls to load the bases for the heart of the METS order.

“Very upset about the walks,” said Gonsolin. “Don’t go these boys, the inning may look very different. I just have to attack the boys.”

Perhaps Roberts would have been fresh in one night when Gonsolin could conjure up a left before Soto when Gonsolin began. After using seven of his eight helpers last night, he had no choice but to leave Gonsolin on the plate as a four-time all-star and five times Silver Slugger.

Five parking spaces later, Soto changed the game and sent Citi Field with his starting shot, which stood high in the right middle of the wall, and the inning only ends when Marte was thrown at home and tried to score as a trail runner.

“I thought I did a slider very well there,” said Gonsolin about a two-line offer that Soto did not stop. “He has a really good eye.

“Then, yes, the splitter, thought it was a more solid one, just increased it. And he didn’t miss it.”

Gonsolin returned to the hill and ended the fifth to save at least one inning that would otherwise have been fell on the Bullpen of the Dodgers. In the end, Miller also contributed two inner sings, gave up a run in eighth place and climbed out of a base loaded jam.

On the other hand, Mets Starter David Peterson had no problems going with his sink, seven strikes and three double games with a sharp command to reach 7 ⅔ Innings from two runs.

“Tonight there wasn’t much tonight of what we were swung, the bats we took,” said Roberts. “To try to follow boys in a down game and use levers, it simply didn’t make any sense for me.”

This is how it goes for the Dodgers; Always on their workload with MLB leadership of Bullpen eight and needs better production from their starters than what gonsolin made available.
