Jaxson Dart makes the case for Ole Miss to make it to the College Football Playoff

After a stunning win in the Egg Bowl on Friday night against Mississippi State, Jaxson Dart decided to advocate for it Ole Miss come in College Football Playoffs.

The Rebels had an inside tip to get the ball, but a loss Florida in week 13 their hopes were somewhat dashed. Still, they have a slim chance of making the playoffs, and Dart got straight to the point while laying out why his tea was worth it and daring the selection committee to ask about it Georgia’s Kirby Smart what he thinks of Ole Miss.

“We are the team that showed we can beat anyone,” Dart told the media, explaining why Ole Miss deserves a playoff spot after the win. “And my opinion is, you know, when you look at the conferences, you look at the strength of the schedule, obviously we missed some games that we definitely shouldn’t and that’s going to bite us. But you know, I believe without a doubt that we are one of the best teams in the country.

“I think you can ask any coach the same question. You can ask Kirby Smart what he thinks. Yes, I don’t know what will happen, but I know that if we get a chance we will definitely try.”

Regardless of Dart’s feelings, the Rebels will need help to get into the College Football Playoff, and even then, it’s a long way off. That may hurt, especially after they entered Gainesville with a chance to control their own destiny, but it doesn’t take away from the great season that Ole Miss put together.

It may have been Jaxson Dart’s last chance to make the College Football Playoff, but Lane Kiffin and the rebels are poised for success now and in the future. They’re not going anywhere, and while they may not get to the dance in 2024, they’ll be a contender year after year from now on.
