Intel’s “Celestial” and “Druid” desktop GPU lines are very much alive; Team Blue will focus on the scalability of mobile GPUs in the future

Intel’s “Battlemage” dGPUs will not mark the end of Team Blue’s journey in the market, as it is now reported that the next-generation “Celestial & Druid” architectures will launch as planned.

Intel is ready to compete in the desktop GPU segment by keeping pace with future product lineups

Now that we know when Intel’s Battlemage architecture will launch, which is expected to be mid-December, questions are emerging about Intel’s future plans for the desktop GPU market. This is largely due to the uncertainty caused by Intel’s “sluggish” business, as well as the fact that the company’s previous GPU releases have not worked out particularly well. However, in a statement from the renowned leaker @jaykihn0, Team Blue’s future Celestial and Druid desktop GPU lines are on track.

The leaker mentions in follow-up statements the fact that Intel aims to remain consistent with its desktop GPU releases, but at the same time the company will ensure that its “laptop iGPUs” scale to the point where they can take on desktop -PCs to compete This ultimately suggests that Intel wants to prioritize its mobile GPUs in the longer term, but will also continue to develop dedicated dGPU products.

What we can expect from Intel’s Celestial is that the range is intended to replace Battlemage with the “Xe3” architecture, but we don’t know the specifications at the moment. The situation is similar with Intel’s “Druid”, which will debut with the “Xe-Next” architecture and will probably compete with counterparts in two generations. All in all, it’s safe to say that Intel’s desktop GPU journey isn’t over yet and that we still have a lot to expect from the company moving forward.

For now, all eyes are on Intel’s Arc Battlemage SKUs, which are rumored to be available in the coming days and will likely show us how Team Blue will proceed with its desktop GPU business in the future.
