Spoiler alarm: This post contains details of 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 16 “The Last Alarm.”

After the ultimate victim of Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) to protect his team after being exposed to a deadly virus, the result of the “last alarm” decreases two weeks after his death. Athena (Angela Bassett) still struggles with the loss of her husband and consumes in a case in which she believes that Bobby would have taken over it.

The case on which Athena works is bound to a house fire that supported Bobby eight years ago. It is believed that the house fire is covering for the kidnapping of a child. Athena is so consumed by the case that she ignores all calls. Henrietta (Aisha Hinds) visits her and Athena collapses, overwhelmed by the injuries she feels inside.

“If you love someone, you are honest with him. You respect. You trust that he can make the hard decisions,” says Athena. “You not only have them blindly and then they don’t start. They don’t let them deal with the chaos – alone. He should be a dead hen. He was here in this kitchen this morning and plans our future. And he just left me.”

Henrietta says: “He didn’t want to.”

“And he did it anyway,” added Athena.

Athena visits the woman in prison that helps her and tells her that the child she thinks is her child is not her child.

“I think they are overwhelmed by grief. For a moment, let yourself be believed that miracles were possible,” Athena told the woman.

Eight years earlier, Bobby comforted the woman who had lost her baby in the house fire and told her that he had lost two children. The woman asks him how he dealt with the loss and he says: “I live in the belief that I will see her one day.”

The scene with Bobby gives the spectators a last look at Peter Krause and, in a way, also serves as a comfort for fans who deal with the loss of his character.

When the burial day arrives, Chimney (Kenneth Choi) has difficulty understanding the choice that Bobby has made to save his life to whom Buck (Oliver Stark) tells him: “I think they should just live.”

Athena comes to the funeral and before Bobby’s portrait says: “Of all days ,, The Is the one you decide to go alone. “

Chief Simpson delivers the memory of Captain Bobby and ends with a “last alarm” and a procession. Athena and her two children cry in Bobby’s coffin, while Bob Dylans plays “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” to end the episode.
