Dubai International Airport (DXB) will be completed in the coming decades. Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, announced at the Arabian Travel Market Conference that all operations will gradually switch to the international airport Al Maktoum (DWC).

DWC is currently undergoing a massive expansion project worth £ 28 billion. Mr. Griffiths emphasized the impractic to operate two large airports so close together.

According to Metro, he said: “It makes little sense to operate two important hubs in such a closeness. We will shift every single service to DWC.”

He noticed that DXB, which was opened in 1960, got too old to maintain it.

He added: “The economy of keeping DXB open will not be profitable unless we invest a significant amount of money.”

While the specific schedule for closing DXB remains unclear, the new terminal from DWC will be in operation by 2032, with further extensions to be projected into the 2050s.

This indicates that DXB will probably continue operation for at least 10 years.

In 2024, Dubai welcomed 1,327,000 visitors from Great Britain, which, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), contradicted an increase of 14% compared to the previous year.

At the international level, Dubai received a total of 18.72 million international visitors overnight in the same period.

In order to enter the United Arab Emirates, the British travelers must ensure that their passport has an expiry date of at least six months about their arrival date.

If you keep a residence permit, the passport must expire at least three months about your arrival in the VAE.

For those who travel through the VAE without going through the immigration, the passport must go beyond their transit date over an expiry date of at least three months.
