Gofundme for fan that fell in PNC Park in a critical condition

Kavan Markwood stays in the hospital after the 20-year-old fell from the right field in PNC Park on Wednesday evening during a game of Pittsburgh Pirates.

A gofundme was created to support his doctor bills and other financial difficulties.

“He is a resilient, hard young man,” said John Fankhauser, football coach at Walsh University.

Fankhauser said Markwood played for Walsh before moving to the Wheeling University to be closer to his home.

“We pray for him,” said Fankhauser. “Hopefully he will come through and back on his feet.”

The injuries to Markwood reported that broken vertebrae and a collapsed lungs were reported, although the complete details were not available on Friday.

“The community of the Wheeling University is broken by the tragedy in PNC Park with the former Wheeling football player Kavan Markwood,” said the university in a statement. “Kavan is an estimated member of our cardinal family. He played in the football team for the 2023 season after changing from Walsh University. Our thoughts and prayers are with cavan, his family, friends and all his loved ones. The cardinal family prays for a complete and quick recovery.”
