France accuses Russian military service for cyber attacks National

On Tuesday, France accused the Russian military intelligence of staging cyber attacks in the staging of cyber attacks, including an organization that was involved in the Olympic Games in Paris and President Emmanuel Macron in 2017.

The French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot took over the accusations to the UN Security Council and demanded that Russia, whose envoys were in the chamber, immediately hire the attacks.

Kartrot said Russia used a branch of the Gru military secret services known as the “apt28 attack group”. The branch, which is also known as Fancy Bear, was associated with global attacks, including the US election in 2016, as e -mails by the democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The French Foreign Ministry said that APT28 had targeted a dozen French companies in the “defense, financial and economic sectors” since 2021.

Barrot combined the renewed apt28 attacks with the support of France for Ukraine since Russia began in February 2022.

“They aimed at a dozen French companies – public services, companies, sports organizations associated with the Olympic Games and Paralympics,” he told a debate from the Security Council on Ukraine. France and Russia are two of the five permanent members of the Council.

“We condemn these cyber attacks in the strongest way,” he added.

“You are a constant member of the Security Council and against framework conditions that have been determined by the United Nations. You must therefore stop immediately.”

– ‘massive hacking operation’-

Russia’s and envoys did not comment on the French accusations, but defended the actions of Russia in Ukraine.

The Russian group is intended to address personal e -mail accounts to call up data and messages or to receive access to other systems.

In 2017, Hacker Macron’s first presidential run met and drank thousands of documents barely 24 hours before the coordination.

“In the midst of the presidential elections, APT28 took part in a massive hacking operation that” aimed “to sow” and influence public opinion, “said the French Foreign Ministry in a video divided by Barrot.

“Thousands of documents were stolen and spread in the hope of manipulating the voters, but the maneuver had no influence on the election process,” said the ministry video.

Macron easily won the choice in the second round against the right -wing extremist veteran Marine Le Pen. In the past, French officials have warned before the risk of interference in the elections set for 2027 if the far right is expected to be an important candidate.

Media are another important goal of the hackers, the Foreign Ministry added.

In 2015, ATP28 – which spent the militant of the Islamic state – chopped the French TV5 monds “to manipulate public opinion” and “panic in France,” it said.

France has been a common goal of Islamist attacks in the past decade, especially in 2015 in the Bataclan concert hall in Paris.

– ‘constant pressure’ – –

Several international secret services, including German authorities, warned in September 2024 of chic bear cyber attacks against NATO countries.

The group “aims at our partners”, said the video of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and added that Ukraine was one of the “priorities” of the group since the invasion of Russia in 2022.

“APT28 is also used to put constant pressure on the Ukrainian infrastructure in the context of the aggression war of Russia against Ukraine,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Poland, a convinced ally of Kyiv, warned that Moscow could try to disturb a presidential vote that was determined on May 18 by cyber attacks and disinformation.

France and Poland will sign a “friendship contract” on May 9th if the Russian President Vladimir Putin is supposed to lead a huge parade in Moscow to chair the victory in World War II.

“In addition to its partners, France is determined to use all the funds available to him to anticipate Russia’s malicious behavior in cyberspace, to discourage it and to react to it,” said the Foreign Ministry.
