Dwayne Johnson cannot be recognized as a buff and bloody MMA legend in the trailer “The Smashing Machine”

The new trailer for A24 drama The Smashing machine Is now out and shows Star Dwayne Johnson’s total conversion into legendary mixed martial arts and UFC fighter Mark Kerr. If not for the Hulking body for which the wrestler has become, it is of course difficult to say that Johnson is under this wig and prosthetics.

The following trailer first introduces us in Johnson’s bloody mark in a waiting room of a doctor’s office in which an older woman asks him: “Do you hate yourself in the fight?” “Absolutely not,” he says, how we see brutal recordings of him in the ring, both the past and the present.

The shine and glamor of the UFC are shown, as well as the obvious physical, mental and emotional tribute fights against Kerr. At some point he showed that he is doing a wooden door and his relationship with Girlfriend Dawn Staples, played by Emily Blunt, seems to be tense.

At the height of his career, the film promises to tell the NO-Holds history of the two-time UFC heavyweight tournament master and to explore his fights with addiction. (Kerr was previously the subject of the 2002 HBO documentary of the same name, which refers to the nickname that he earned in the ring due to his fighting style.)

It wasn’t just Kerr in front of the camera. Johnson unveiled some real combat wounds that the biographical drama shot in his social media reports last summer.

“Take a look at this idiot right there,” he said in the video and put an injured area on his arm. “It looks like I have a Kantaloupe in the bottom of my elbow. I am pretty well beaten in our scenes today.

The elbow injury was of course a bit of art that imitated life. Kerr once won the World Vale Tudo championship with a broken hand and was later able to take part in the American championship fights due to another hand injury.

The Smashing machine Johnson sees himself with his reunited Jungle cruise Costtar blend. Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten and Oleksandr Usyk also play in the film, which is written, staged and published by Benny SafdieUncut gemstonesPresent Good time). Johnson also produces alongside David Koplan, Hiram Garcia, Dany Garcia, Safdie and Eli Bush.

Before Johnson became a great film star who went in the Ring on the skirt, he celebrated his WWE debut in 1996 and became an eight-time WWE championship and twice WCW championship winner.

The Smashing MachinE on October 3, 2025 hits the cinemas nationwide.
