Dramatic victory ProPel Kamhameha Maui and Baldwin Baseball teams for the semi -finals tonight: Maui Now

It was on Thursday evening in the Mahara Stadium in Wailuku with a cheering, emotional amount of more than 3,000 roots of Kamehameha Maui and Baldwin, which both bring baseball teams to the state semi -finals.

Maui Interscholastic League runner-up Baldwin, who got a 1-0 victory out of the Kamehamehahen Schools of No. 1-Seed Kapalama from Honolulu, even though she was littered in the fifth game.

And in the night sack, behind an almost complete game of the left-handed pitcher Kanoa Arakawa, the Mil-League champion Kamhameha Maui scored his first state finale in school history with a 6-2 victory against Leilehua High of O’ahu.

“It’s cool. It’s cool for our program,” said Shane Dudoit, coach of Kamehameha Maui. “It is cool for our administration and (Bishop Princess Bernice) Pau’ahi. Without them, none of these boys can do what we do.”

And Dudoit added: “I think it’s great for Maui. I think it’s great for Maui Baseball. Good luck for (coach) Craig (Okita) and Baldwin Bears. We have some really good players in our league.”

Today, both semi -final games of the State tournament of the Wally Yonamine Foundation/the Hawaii High School Athletic Association are played in the Maehara Stadium.

At 4 p.m., Baldwin will try to switch off Waiakea No. 4 seeds to come to his fourth championship game in a row.

At 7 p.m. Kamhameha Maui Saint Louis, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu runs.

This is the second time since 2007 and the second year in a row that the MIL had two state final four teams in the baseball of Division I.

This is the 10th time in the last 14 states tournaments that the Baldwin Bears drove into the state semi-finals, including last season, when they were explained with Maui High after the championship game was rained 2-2.

It was also the second year in a row in which the bears defeated the best Kapalama warriors of the seed as a second-placed Mil team while he was exhausted. Last season Kamhameha Kapalama had six goals for Baldwins Four in a 3-2-bear triumph in the state semi-finals.

Arakawa took the way for Kamhameha Maui and played a short game on the hill. The left ended with 111 parking spaces. While the pitch limit of the national high school rules is 110, pitchers may end the dough, which they are exposed to with 110 dough.

On Thursday, Okita was only able to shake his head on Thursday.

“It is just, you are a great team and we have a hit, you have five and you made some mistakes (three mistakes),” said Okita on Thursday. “We had some opportunities to score more, but they are hard … they are difficult to score. I told our boys at the beginning: ‘We can give up two runs today. If we give up two runs today, we will have a shot and Perry scored a damn good games.

“We played some great defensive games when we needed them, and that’s baseball, that’s just baseball. … yes, as I said, we are happiness.”

Kapalama coach Daryl Kitagawa said that his best team was beaten by a constant power in the state.

“They are well trained, they play the game right, they won tonight,” said Kitagawa. “No ifs, and or buts.”

The last season was for the first time in a sport in Hawaii at Division I level that the two finalists came from the same neighboring island.

“They play great baseball, have and will always be and will continue to be,” said Kitagawa. “(Baldwins) A good club. Maui High is a good club. Kamhameha Maui is a good club. So congratulations on Baldwin tonight.”

The Capalama Warriors left the result with 29: 7 in the season. They play in fifth place today at 11:00 a.m.

Baldwin improved to 17-8-1 when the bears supported Perry-Waikiki with an outstanding defense, while the second right-handed man also found his way out of a few jams.

Perry-Waikiki only needed 89 parking spaces to end the game with a strikeout and a walk.

“Unfortunately I let the boys come to the base, but my team got me. They had my back. They spoke to me again and again during the entire game and I just went with me,” said Perry-Waikiki.

On April 29, he fell back from a defeat in the Mil championship game and only started his fifth season after leaving more than half of the season with a hand injury he suffered in February. He had promised his pitching thumbs, which implanted three screws and then removed.

“I thought I was traveling for the season, but I’m really happy to be back tonight,” he said.

In the night tongue, Leilehua (9: 6) took over the lead on an RBI by Blaze Manutai with 2-0 in the lead and a single from Jacob Saflan. Kamhameha Maui (18-5-1), for the first time since 2009 of the Mil Champions, tied the game 2-2 in the end of the inning with a run scoring mistake from the bat from Duke Aloy and a walk loaded by the bases to Teyvon Kahalewai.

After two walks were wrapped around a base goal in the bottom of the fourth inning, Hong stepped onto the plate without outs and drove to the left in two runs with a sharp single. The newcomer Zaiyah Madamba Barozzo then delivered another run with a line single-single-in-center field.

Moments later, Hong stealed home at the front of a double steal to push the Kamhameha Maui tour to 6-2.

Arakawa was outstanding on the hill for the second big game in a row. On April 29, he threw an 8-0 closure over Baldwin for the overall MIL championship.

“He did it really well,” said Dudoit. “This is a shabby Leilehua team. They hit us in the jaw early on. And we took a few parking spaces. We are lucky enough to get a few runs back.”

Arakawa was effective after giving up five goals in the first inn.

“It feels pretty amazing that we are making so much progress,” said Arakawa, a junior left-hander. “It’s just very nice to see how much progress we have made in the past two years.”

Arakawa said that his team, which answered the two runs of the Mules, was a big key with two runs at the bottom of the first win.

“It was shown that our team would not give up and that we just continued to fight,” said Arakawa. “As soon as we got these two back, the game started pretty much again.
