De Simeon Rice, Multi-Time-Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl winner, who is to be recorded in Buccaners Ring of Ehren

In an NFL career, which included 12 seasons for four teams, Rice played with the Bucs from 2001 to 2006, went to two of his three career-pro-Bowls with the franchise and started for the Super Bowl XXXVII winner.

He collected 69.5 sacks for Tampa, which in the history of club history behind his former teammate Warren Sapp (77 sacks) and unofficially third when Lee Roy Selmon reached 78.5 according to Pro Football.

Rice was taken third in the NFL design by the 1996 Arizona Cardinals and took the BUCs before the 2001 campaign and started a number of five in a row with double-digit sacks for the squad. As a Pro-Bowler in 2002-03, he combined 30.5 sacks during this time and led the NFL in ’03 with six forced fiddles.

It was in 2002 that proved to be the climax for Rice and the Bucs who won the first super bowl of the franchise. Under the head coach Jon Gruden and the defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, Rice fit the Bucs into the Aplobe and sparkled Tampas 48:21 win against the Oakland Raiders to capture the Super Bowl XXXVII. He posted five duels, two sacks and a forced fumbling in victory, which culminated a phenomenal post -season, in which he had a sack and a forced fumbling in each of the Bucs games.

Rice will be the 10th former player who is anchored in the Buccaners ring of the honor ring. Of the players who will join Rice, five former Bucs teammates – Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Mike Alstott, Ronde Barber and John Lynch are.

The 51 -year -old Rice also had 250 duels, 67 for losses, four interceptions and 19 forced fumbling with the Bucs during his time. In his career, which ended with stints for the Colts Denver Broncos and Indianapolis, Rice amounted to 122 sacks, 483 duels, 93 for losses, five picks and 28 forced fumbles.
