Cool weekend ahead in Wayne; Passaic County issues Code Blue Alert

WAYNE, NJ – It will be dry and cold in Wayne and surrounding North Jersey this weekend as people go shopping and put up their decorations, forecasters say.

Passaic County has issued a Code Blue Alert overnight Friday through Monday as temperatures will drop into the low 20s and be dangerous for people without shelter. This alert mobilizes local officials and agencies to help organize shelter for homeless adults.

And while winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21st, meteorological winter begins this Sunday, December 1st.

Warming centers in Clifton, Passaic and Paterson are open at the following times:

  • Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 10 a.m
  • Saturday at 7 p.m. to Sunday at 11 a.m
  • Sunday at 5 p.m. to Monday at 11 a.m
  • Monday at 5 p.m. to Tuesday at 11 a.m

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service expects light snow to fall across the region Wednesday night into Thursday and said even colder air masses could potentially move in by the end of next week.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Wind chill values ​​between 25 and 30. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21. West wind 6 to 8 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. West wind 6 to 11 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high of around 41°C.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, low around 24°C.
