Cook water advisory for some Richmond district

Richmond, va. (Wwbt) – A Boil Water Advisory was granted until further terminations for some Richmond district.

This happens after the city’s water treatment plant experienced an operational problem early Tuesday morning.

“Some customers in this area can experience a total loss of the water service, while others may have different water pressure losses,” said a spokesman for the city on Tuesday.

The consultant is for customers who are served by the Ginter Park Tank. The neighborhoods include: Byrd Park, Brookland Park, Carver, Carytown, Chamberlayne, The Fan, Ginter Park, Jackson Ward, Laburnum Park, The Museum District, North Side, Oregon Hill, Randolph, Scotts Addition, VCU’s Monroe Park Campus, Windsor Farms and parts of the city center.

“As caution, all residents are asked to save water to ensure that all needs are met during this time,” said the city. “We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and update our customers when new information is available.”

Below you will find a checklist for safe water consumption during this time:

  • Do not drink tap water during this cooking water alarm.
  • Do not drink from water wells in parks, public or private buildings that get water from the city of Richmond’s public supply.
  • Do not use ice cream today. Disease the ice cream and disinfect the ice machine and/or ice shells.
  • Do not use tap water to produce drinks, juices or fountain pen.
  • Do not wash your dishes with tap water – use boiled water or use paper plates.
  • Wash your fruit and vegetables with tap water – use boiled or filled water.
  • Do not brush your teeth with tap water – use boiled or filled water.
  • Do not cook with tap water unless your food is cooked vigorously for three minutes.

Temporary tips for water protection:

  • Eliminate or shorten shower times.
  • Avoid unnecessary toilet flushing.
  • Avoid washing clothes as long as possible.
  • If possible, move the washing of the washing.
  • Check all the taps, shower heads and under cupboards for drops.
