Chicago Blackhawks against Ottawa Senators, March 5, 2025: score, highlights, results, analysis

The Blackhawks took over the senators for the first time this season and played a mostly entertaining, back and forth game that Ottawa ultimately won 4: 3 in extra time.

The senators only met 2:30 a.m. in the first after Artem Zub had thrown a shot from the point into the net that Brady Tkachuk was led past Arvid Soderblom:

After 12 minutes, a bad game in the Ottawa zone found the way to Landon, and lag a pass back to Ryan Donato, who stuck it behind a spacious Linus Ullmark to bind the game with one:

Just 45 seconds later, the Hawks received a power game on a Tkachuk interference call, and a Teuvo Tervainen Centering-Pass bounced from Ullmark and directly back to Teravinen, which ended the rebound to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead:

The game 60 remained here. Then Tim Stutzle drove into the folds only 46 seconds before he pushed the puck (and soderblom) into the goal for the game winner:

Notes

Ottawa fights for her playoff life and you have certainly played for most of the game. A current loss would have put their playoff chances considerably:

The senators summed up early, and their schedule only seemed to take the neutral zone away from the Hawks and to force them outside, which, as both goals of the Blackhawks, which resulted from individual broken games, in contrast to produced, continuing crimes.

Speaking of goals, it is probably no surprise that both Donato and Teravainen were achieved again tonight as they were The Primary offensive actor for most of the past few weeks. Donato now has 17 points in his last 11 games (8 g, 9a), while Teuvo has a six -game -streak (3 g, 5 a) and is now tied to the entire team with Connor Bedard with a lead.

Andersensen sent Donato with Bedard and Alex Vlasic to be suitable for the extension, considering that there is a pronounced way that this was the last game of Donato as a Blackhawk. He was a fantastic story this year, but I think he played so valuable on the market of a real seller (did you see what the octopus has just got from Tampa?!?) That it would be borderline if Kyle does not act.

And if the kings are interested after looking at first hand (they have also searched for the Hawks like Crazy in the past few weeks), then I put it in the universe. And yes, I know that it would take a lot more than just Donato:

When Donato goes, the Blackhawks have to find a way to get Bedard up and running because I think we are all really worried at that time. The obvious solution continues to play him with Teuvo (which is fifth in the entire NHL with 27 templates in his last 32 games), but for some reason Sorensen seems to be allergic to the idea. During the show, Rick Ball even made an indication that someone else asked this question recently, only so that Sorensen replied that Teuvo’s line played so well that he did not want to disparage it.

The new look Bedard, Frank Nazar and Colton Dach Line didn’t do much. While they were the second best ownership of the Hawks in the amount of a shooting attempt of 52.38 percent, they only created four shots, while seven tasks, they failed to maintain a single-high risk chance and with a expected target rate of only 22.40 percent, which was the lowest of all line in this game.

This is certainly not a game that will soon look back on the roof. At the beginning of the third period, he made brutal sales when he tried to go to Ottawa’s line, and then gave a breakaway. He also lost the puck after a great feed from Nazar on a 2-on-1 feed when he tried to pull it back on his back, instead of shooting. I appreciate that Sorensen still gave roof layers in the third after the turnover and did not immediately put him on the market (unlike Andreas Athanasiou, who started a total of 6:58 this evening).

After Spencer Knight’s spectacular debut on Monday, I was curious how Soderblom would react. Although it probably didn’t end up with minus 1.9 goals that were expected above-it is difficult for me to hang one of the four goals from Ottawa specifically on him. It will be interesting to see how the dynamic development between Soderblom and Ritter develops, as hopefully they can push each other while they share the rest of the starts of this season. It sounds like Petr Mrazek is pretty much done here:

The goal of the senators, about which everyone could talk about for a while, was the game winner:

I really don’t see a problem so much. Stutzle uses a start/stop to blow from Wyatt Kaiser, then it is Kaiser’s swing that forces the Stutzle in Soderblom, and Stutzle certainly did not deliberately step on the Puck. Sometimes these are just the breaks.
