Call the midwife -Prequel -TV series and film plans that were unveiled as a series 15 with films

The BBC and the Neal Street have announced that production in series 15 of Call The Midwife started in co-production with PBS.

A two -part Christmas special in Hong Kong and Poplar will follow eight new hours of episodes at the East End, which will come to BBC IPLAYER and BBC One from January 2026.

When high -ranking members of the Nonnatus House employee go to Hong Kong on a Mercy mission, the younger midwives have to be completed alone. While the Christmas campaign between the sun-drenched Far East and a snow-capped East end is changing, sister Julienne is suddenly excited about the future of the order. The new projects are written, created and produced by the impressive, purely female team behind the extremely successful current TV show. Showrunner Heidi Thomas and executing producers Pippa Harris and Ann Tricklebank, who also produce. You will bring together series 16 in due course.

Further details on Neal Street Call the Midwife Prequel TV series for the BBC and the film with BBC film will be released later this year.

Commissioned by Lindsay Salt, director of the BBC drama, Call the Midwife is made by All3Media’s Neal Street for the BBC in co-production with PBS.
