BangShift.com Crashed LS Turbo Drag & Drive Car Rebuilt: The Maliboom Gets a Lot More Love! Suspension, transmission, turbos and more!

The Maliboom gets a lot more than he ever should have, but man, is he going to be one badass? In case you missed it, Dane Thompson’s Maliboom slammed into the wall during Rocky Mountain Race Week in Oklahoma a few months ago and it’s been banging around on it ever since. Despite much conjecture, it turns out that the real reason for the crash was nothing that anyone else would have suspected. It turns out that the press-in plug that forms the back of the stock LS water pump was pushed out, pouring all of the cooling system water under the car. The accident was not terrible and no one was injured, but the Maliboom suffered damage to its suspension, body and ultimately the frame. In fact, it turned out that the engine block and a few other things were cracked. But anything that can be fixed is just a matter of deciding HOW to fix it.

We’ve shared several rebuild videos including all diagnostics, frame repairs and more. Now it’s time to finish the front, fabricate and finish the transmission mount and tunnel, as well as work on the turbo assembly and more. This will be a pretty cool car once everything is rebuilt. Dane has big plans to make this different and unique and we love him for it.
