Allende evaluates again with the history of the young journalist

The best -selling author Isabel Allende has been loved by millions of passionate, loyal readers for her strong female protagonists and epic action strands that extend over America for decades.

In novels such as “The House of the Girits”, “Eva Luna” and recently “Violeta”, indomitable women, the focus and activity are increasing dramatic stories with a splash of magical realism of the writer, who was born in Peru and grew up in Chile.

In all -round new book “My name is Emilia del Valle” no different, in which the end of the 19th century contains an adventurous journalist in San Francisco. The young Emilia is surprisingly fearless for a woman of her time, who challenges and converts about gender barriers, while from writing cheap novels, it moves from a male pseudonym to her real Byline – as a woman – to be published over her newspaper articles.

Much of Emilia’s intellectual curiosity and self -confidence comes from her stepfather, a Spanish -speaking school teacher who marries her pregnant mother, a Catholic nun that was given up after a romance with a wealthy Chilean aristocrat.

Although Allendes initially defines its history in the United States, she gradually moved to Chile when Emilia persuades a newspaper editor to travel to the South American country to cover the civil war in Chile and to emphasize her Spanish language skills.

Together with Eric Whelan, correspondent of the newspaper colleague, she is sent to the main messages while dealing with the functions.

Together with the professional challenge, Emilia wants to learn more about the father she never knew and herself. Once in Chile, Emilia looks extreme dangers that she never imagined and ask where she came from and where she was going.

Allendes the former novel “The Wind Know Know my name”, which was published in 2023, was a departure from her familiar stories with strong women. In this book, she fled the stories of two small children who traveled alone in different times and in different places – one during the bridal Holocaust in Europe and the other in today’s Arizona on the border with Mexico.

But all the books from Allende, “My name is Emilia del Valle”, contain the epic feeling of a great Hollywood film, the type of production that everyone will say that they really have to be valued on the big screen.

When you read the book, you almost see the young Emilia on the steamboat south to Chile, the country at the foot of the volcano, which holds her roots, and her fate.
