Gardner Morey steps down as Princeton Women’s Hockey Coach with the name GM by New Pwhl Vancouver Franchise – College Hockey

Cara Gardner Morey resigned as head coach of the Princeton women’s hockey team in order to take on a new role as General Manager of PWHL Vancouver, an expansion franchise company that is in the 2025-26 season.

Gardner Morey has spent the last 14 seasons as a member of Princeton’s coaching staff, including the last eight as head coach. Gardner Morey, the second most head coach in the program history, led the Tigers to the Ecac Hockey Championship 2020. During her time in Princeton, the Tigers qualified for three NCAA tournaments when she was a head coach twice and twice during her term. You part of two Ivy League championships – 2016 as an assistant and in 2019 as head coach.

“I am grateful for Caras for 14 years of commitment to Princeton Women’s Ice Hockey as a co -trainer and head coach,” said John Mack, director of Princeton athletics in a statement. “She helped recruit and develop some of the most successful teams in the program history, and helped countless young women to reach their potential on and off the ice on and off. We are sad to see her, but pleased that she takes on this new role for the PWHL during an exciting time.”

Gardner Morey will have several former tigers in opposing teams because she takes over the management in Vancouver, including 2024 PWHL No. 1.

“This is a bitter moment for me, but an exciting,” said Gardner Morey. “Princeton has been my home for 14 years and is a place that will always be something special for me and my family. I was lucky enough to even be a small part of the incredible story of Princeton and Princeton women’s hockey. Trainer and leader who have made this opportunity.

Princeton will carry out a national search for his next head coach.
