Sky Coach Notes use of Hailey van Liths banking role behind veteran

There were several extremely convincing storylines that rose to the game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky on May 17th. One that swept something under the carpet (given others, which occurred during and after the competition), it was the debut of the regular season of the former TCU -Hailey van Lith, whom the sky had selected with the No. 11 selection of the WNBA design of 2025.

Many fans believed that Van Lith’s skills would translate from college into the WNBA that was supported when Van Lith produced solid minutes during the previous season. However, Van Lith only played 4 minutes on May 17th (which came at the end of the game), even though it was a blowout.

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh spoke to the media on May 21. And at some point he was asked whether Van Lith was the replacement for the experienced Point Guard Courtney Vandersloot.

“I think it’s just as much worth sitting behind someone like a Courtney Vandersloot Chicago’s mind sports.

“There are plus points and minus for both, but I think for you, the opportunity to learn and collect this experience and this knowledge from a Hall of Famer is something that you cannot really put a prize on.

“In every experience and opportunities and the knowledge of Courtney, she has soaked in Hailey’s honor. And Courtney is a willing participant in sharing this together with Hailey,” he added.

It will be interesting to see whether Van Lith can make a role for himself over the course of the season.
