Why the US ambassador in Ukraine quits and why Trump’s call is bombarded with Putin

In his third call with Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump bent again in front of the Russian leader because he ended the war against Ukraine. The large dealmaker had the Kremlin boss defined all conditions.

Trump’s abuse of Putin was well combined in an interview that (before the phone call from Trump-Putin-Tutin-Tutin) with the former US ambassador to Bridget Brink, the best informed and most committed foreign service specialists, which I have been on for decades over decades.

Brink, who worked for five presidents and worked in Kyiv for three years, recently announced and retired because she had the feeling that she was no longer able to implement the policy of the White House in Ukraine.

“I resigned,” she said, “because the policy of the Trump government on the victim, Ukraine, put pressure on the attacker Russia, Russia.

“Peace at all costs is no peace,” she told me. “It is appeasement and it only leads to more war.”

One of several moments when Brink could no longer serve came when Trump and Vice President JD Vance insulted in the Oval Office in the Oval Office in February.

Another turning point: After a deliberate Russian rocket stroke that had slaughtered nine children in a playground in Zelensky’s hometown, Trump Officidom decided that the formal condolences that the US message in Kyiv sent should not be held responsible for the attack.

“They are even afraid to say the word” Russian “when they talk about the rocket that the children killed,” wrote the Ukrainian president bitterly at that time.

Brink said: “We continued to blame Ukraine and did not hold Russia accountable.”

Until this moment, the former ambassador indicates: “There is no indication of Putin that he wants to end this war. I think he is looking for every way to move out because he believes that time is on his side while killing men, women and children every day.”

Brink said the United States had a strong leverage on Russia if it was used in coordination with European allies. This includes further sanctions against Russian energy exports and banks as well as cooperation in the fulfillment of over 200 billion US dollars of Russian assets in European banks, which could then be used to buy more US weapons for Ukraine.

“Russia is not as strong as some people think,” she said firmly about its weakening economy. Ukraine, which has become the worldwide in progressive weapon technology, now has the strongest army in Europe. “I am sure you won’t stop fighting because you are fighting for your future, independence and your country.”

If the United States continues to offer some security goods that are missing Europeans, such as B. intelligence cooperation and help with air defendants, and NATO members increase their military expenditure (from Trump), a united Western Front Putin could seriously negotiate.

But as Brink emphasizes: “So far, our administration has not taken any steps to exert additional pressure on Russia to achieve peace.”

Instead, the opposite is true. Who can advocate Trump’s truth -social post after a brutal Russian strike against Kyiv on April 25 on April 25th with Putin: “Vladimir, stop!” These two words have become an international meme that Trump made fun of, especially since Putin ignored him.

After the concession to Putin, the US President made a license without requesting mutuality and sending a blatant message of the weakness.

And Trump’s insist on the fact that only he could solve the Ukraine war in conversation with Putin was only embarrassed. Putin refused to accept the president’s demand for an immediate, unconditional 30-day ceasefire or to confront new sanctions that Trump humiliated again in front of the whole world. After Vladimir said NyetTrump kinked and made excuses for the Russians. He said journalists that there would be no new sanctions, because that could make things “much worse”. No wonder that many believe (not) that Putin has a complomat on Trump.

In order to cover up his Kowtow, the president crowed that Russia and Ukraine would now start negotiations for an armistice. This is exactly what Putin will-endless rounds of conversations on a low level, based on the relentless requirements of the Kremlin after a complete Ukrainian surrender. Talks that buy the time to undermine the United States continue to separate western alliance and exhaust Ukraine.

And the key to Putin’s plan is to continue to massage Trump, who is now talking about the “great trade” with Russia, and seems to be an end for intensifying, falling sanctions against the Kremlin, not intensifying and not intensifying. Such a large wholesale is a imagination.

There is actually a much more promising view of greater trade: with Kyiv (beyond the survived mineral contract). However, this can only arise if the fighting ends with a real peace, which means that independent Ukraine is secured from the further Russian attack.

“In order for real peace to happen, the attacker must be named and put pressure on the attacker,” said Brink.

“They give nothing in advance,” she noticed, until Putin agrees to an unconditional ceasefire. And each agreement requires strong European security guarantees that are supported by Washington and a strong review mechanism, since “the Russians have no agreements”.

“Putin won’t stop in Ukraine,” said Brink, as the story shows. “He wants Europe to be split. Russia is with China and North Korea. Russia’s war is an attempt to weaken us. We cannot fall into the bait.”

My fear is that Trump will insist on dealing with Putin. On Monday, he indicated that he could withdraw from a mediation role -which could mean to empower the still decisive, albeit dwindling military US help in the context of President Joe Biden and to collect Russian sanctions to pursue gas agreements and a Trump tower in Moscow.

75 Senators, Democrats and Republicans signed the sanctioning Russian law of 2025, which has to impose Russia “if the government of the Russian Federation refuses to negotiate a peace agreement with Ukraine”.

Would the GOP signer be the courage to act?
