Baseball playoffs of the Los Angeles City High School; Semi -finals for Dodger Stadium Set

The Los Angeles City department will produce another newcomer to the Baseball final of the Open Division on Saturday at the Dodger Stadium.

Half of the semi -finals on Tuesday in Cal State Northhridge consists of two teams that have never reached the final of the division since the creation of the division in 2018. Sylmar (22-6) won a title of Division I in 2023 in 2023. No. 1 Seed Venice (27-2) is no longer in a city finals and lost in the II Championship Division.

The other half is between two blue blood: Birmingham and El Camino Real. Birmingham has been in the Final Open City five times since 2018 and won three, the last win in 2023. ECR was twice in the same window in the Open final (2018, 2021) and lost both times.

Birmingham has eight city titles in the program history. ECR has nine nine, according to the history of the city department.

Birmingham plays El Camino Real at 3 p.m. Sylmar and Venice play at 6 p.m.

For so many years, the open final has been included two San Fernando Valley teams in Chavez Ravine. When San Pedro won the Open Division City Crown in 2021, she broke a long strip of schools in San Fernando Valley and won the top baseball division of the city, which began in 1993. Bell High stepped in this group in 2024, breathtaking Birmingham 4-1 last year.

Simply put, only two non-Sanic Fernando Valley teams have won the city’s top division since 1993. Could Venice be the third and maybe the second in a row?
