San Diego (KGTV) – The hit musical “Hamilton” now plays in the San Diego Civic Theater and brings the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton to life through hip hop, jazz and R&B.

Behind every performance are the talented musicians who create the soundtrack that the audience feels in their feet and souls.

Quinton “Q” Robinson serves as the drummer of the Hamilton Philip Tour and plays in what he lovingly calls “Q’s Boom Boom Room”.

“I always say that if there was a show that I created to play, this would be. I could play the show for the rest of my life,” said Robinson.

Robinson saw the musical in 2018 for the first time and was immediately fascinated. “I was absolutely overwhelmed by everything that theater, music, the sights, the sounds,” said Robinson. Robinson’s dream plays in real time, from listening to the soundtrack almost every day to music.

“Sometimes you hear the drums before listening to the lyrics and they are already knocking on their feet and they are already moving their shoulders and they dance before a poetry is said,” said Robinson.

While Robinson delivers the beat, Jisel Soleil Ayon brings the texts to life as Angelica Schuyler.

“There are people out there who look up who have never seen a theater in front of some people. This is their first musical that is so special to remember,” said Ayon.

Ayon, who grew up in Long Beach, is grateful that she is back in Southern California for this role. “In the past, it would never have thought that it would be part of my life, now so much of my life and I think that’s interesting. You never know where life will lead you,” said Ayon.

Although the audience know the songs well, Ayon says that every performance offers something unique.

“The audience that is in this theater this evening gets a unique show that it will never look exactly like,” said Ayon.

Hamilton will be in the San Diego Civic Theater until May 18.
