Who is running for the President in 2028 and who is not?

It has passed less than six months since the 2024 presidential election, but for some Democrats and Republicans it is not too early to plan the race for the White House in 2028.

Three top -class democratic governors, a former democratic cabinet member and a Republican cabinet member who were weighed on last week whether they would run for the President in 2028. Some have not excluded a run.

The Democrat of Kentucky, governor Andy Beshear, said on Thursday that he would consider to run for the president if he had the feeling that someone who could successfully combine the country.

“If they had asked me a few years ago whether this was something that I would consider, I probably wouldn’t have it. But I don’t want to leave my children to a broken country. So if I am someone who can bring this nation together, hopefully they will find something common that I will consider,” Beshear told WDRB on Thursday.

Beshear rose national importance in a Republican state after his nationwide governor and was among those who become Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate in 2024.

The Maryland Governor Wes Moore, another Democrat, who was seen as a potential Harris run colleague and who praised some as an emerging star within the party, said that he was “not for the president” on Thursday when he was asked about ABC’s “The View”.

“I don’t run,” said Moore, adding that he “really excited about the work that is taking place in the state of Maryland”.

Moore’s term as a governor ends in 2026 and he was able to choose a second term.

Moore, Maryland’s first black governor, had previously said that he was not running, also in an interview with the Baltimore Sun in April. However, Moore’s statement comes because he makes more national media and event appearances. At the end of May, he is scheduled to lead the top-class Blue Palmetto dinner of the South Carolina Democratic party.

Last week, former trade minister Gina Raimondo, who served under President Joe Biden, said she would be considered to run for the president, and answered with a direct “yes” when the political analyst David Axelrod was asked at an event at the University of Chicago.

“The Democratic Party has a lot of work to do,” she said. “Self -observation … Where did we go wrong, how will our guidelines be, how will our platform be, what will be our tactics?”

Raimondo, a former risk capital, said that she served the country for 15 years and if there is a “big way” for her to serve again, “I will do it.” But she offered a restriction: “If I thought that someone else would be better or better able to win, I would come back behind this person in a minute.

Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, the Vice President Kamala Harris’ running comrade, said recently that last Monday at the Harvard Institute of Politics, he did not think of a presidential run from 2028 at an event last Monday and repeated this position.

When asked why, Walz did not give any special features of his own decision, but again pointed out his ethos of teamwork, which he believes that they should be shown under Democrats. “I think we should carry out this campaign together as a party and these chosen officials, similar to the Old School Mountain Climbing Expeditions,” said Walz. “They never knew who would go to the summit. It was whoever ready at the last moment. And on the summit day, when someone was in the best form, she pushed up and the entire team got recognition.”

However, Walz recently went on a national tour of the town hall, which triggered speculation about its political future and openly talked about reflections about his course of 2024.

On the Republican side, fewer names in the areas of presidential candidate were floating on the Republican side. President Donald Trump speculated how to find a way for a third term that the scientists say that the constitution is excluded the 22nd amendment to the constitution. In an interview with NBC News, which was broadcast on Sunday, he said that he would be “a two-time president” and he would not want to lead in 2028.

The director of the National Secret Service Tulsi Gabbard, who joined the Republican Party in 2024 after working as a democrat at the Congress for several years, said in a podcast episode published on Thursday that it would not be able to rule out future presidential offer.

The conservative journalist Megyn Kelly asked Gabard whether she had ever run as president for the president after her unsuccessful command of the Democratic President of 2020 and said: “Could we possibly see a Tulsi 2028 attempt?”

“I will never rule out any opportunity to serve my country. … My decisions in my life have always been made about how I can best serve for God. How can I best serve in our country,” said Gabard. “And that led me here. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I will continue to hunt the possibilities in which I have the most positive effects and can have the service.”

Her remarks repeated some previous statements that she had made when examining a presidential ticket.

Garbbard, who is Samoan American, was the first woman of color in 2020 to have won a delegate from the Democratic National convention since Shirley Chisholm in 1972. Four years later, Gabard was considered in 2024 to become Trump’s running colleagues.

The BUZZ around 2028 competitors continues when some other figures as potential 2028 presidential candidates, including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, former Vice President Kamala Harris and former transport secretary Pete Buttigieg, increase their public appearances and explanations.

Pritzker and Harris held top -class speeches on Sunday or Wednesday, and Butzigieg will later be rolled over in Iowa in Iowa in May.

At the same time, some Democrats say that the focus of the party, since it is newly grouped after its loss in 2024, must be on the intermediate elections in 2026 for the House of Representatives and the Senate – not to 2028. The Republican Party currently has a trifecta with majorities in the house and the Senate and Trump in the White House.

“I mean, everyone is somehow outside and tries to get the touch and the feeling of how it actually happens in the country, and are the things that Trump is doing now, which now drops his approval evaluation and really registered with people,” said Hillary Clinton 2016 in a book discussion in New York City on Thursday.

But she later added: “I think there will be many tests of the water, but we will not know who will probably decide to the agent after the intermediate times, which really underlines the most important message: We have to win the Midterms.”
