MPs vote for the delay of the EU’s 2025 car

The European Parliament has supported a proposal to delay the EU 2025 CO today2 Reduction destination for car manufacturers. The Green Group T&E said that the delay, which was also supported yesterday by the ambassadors of the EU member states, is an unnecessary gift to the auto industry, as is the sale of electric cars in Europe. It will only serve to hold back the transition to EVS and to undermine investment security in European production.

In the first three months of the year, European automobile manufacturers sold 45% more battery electric cars compared to the same period of 2024. However, the EU Commission responded to the pressure of the European automotive industry by proposing to give car manufacturers their goals for reducing 2025 EU emissions.

Lucien Mathieu, car director at T&E, said: “It is ironic that the EU delays the emission goals for the auto industry as well as the sales of possibly the boom is thanks to the new, more affordable models that have launched the automotive manufacturers to meet the original EU target. This delay will enable the industry to take the foot of the gas for EV-Roluria and at the same time to slow the investments.”

T&E asked the EU to face its future CO2 Goals for car manufacturers because Europe cannot afford any further delays when obtaining China.
