The Weeknd opens up to deal with sleep paralysis

The week opened up how his real experiences with sleep paralysis influenced his film Seep you tomorrow.

The singer spoke to The fader About the evil in his film before starting in a very personal explanation of sleep paralysis. “There are no antagonists in this film,” he said. “I think the enemy is sleeping paralysis.”

“It was something that I really had to do with it until today. Not as much as before, but they are very lively nightmares in which you are in bed and you sleep half and you are aware of your surroundings,” continued the Weeknd. “But you can’t move and you are paralyzed for almost a minute and sometimes you see a shady figure in the corner and you hear a voice.”

The Weeknd also revealed how it deals with it. “I did my research over it and it is just lack of sleep,” said the singer. “Your brain is still awake when you sleep. My big medication for it was to simply switch off your phone, switch off the television, to switch off all lights.”

Seil you tomorrow – The film, not the album – will be released in the cinemas on May 16. The trailer was shown last month in the 2025 Cinemacon in the Caesars Colosseum in Las Vegas, where Jenna Ortega, who appears with The-Dream and Barry Keoghan in the film, “difficult to describe”.

“I haven’t seen a film so well. It is very soulful,” she said. “It feels more like an experience, and when you respond to this mentality, it makes sense.”

At the beginning of this year, the Weeknd told us how his carefully time -controlled napperchen help him to cope with his stress levels. “I’ve made a napist lately,” he said. “Astronaut snack. 26 minutes. Switch off the whole world. Switch off all lights and put your alarm exactly for 26 minutes. No more or less. Works like magic.”
